My Portion

I drew this with a gel pen on white paper. This phrase is from "His Eye is on the Sparrow." Listen to Page CXVI's version it here. Such a great a song.

Quilt Packaging

I recently finished a baby quilt for a friend of mine. I wanted to package it up in a cute way but didn't have a ton of time. I picked up this t-shirt box at Michael's. There is one about 2 minutes from our apartment. Dangerously close. I just used some black paint I had on hand to write little Lukes name on top. I've found that using apparel puff paint makes it so easy to write text when you're in a time crunch!

I featured this baby quilt on my Quilt blog if you'd like to take a look!

Baby Name Banner

I made this banner for a sweet friend of mine. We had it hanging behind the food table at her baby shower. The banner is made out of linen and white cotton fabric. After I made the flags, I painted Knightley's name on them in white acrylic paint. While that was drying, I made the thick rope/ribbon I would soon sew them onto. Once the flags were dry, I sewed them onto the white fabric.

I think it turned out so cute and am happy she decided to use it as decoration in her sweet girl's nursery!

I also posted this on my quilt blog if you want to check it out!

Calligraphy Cake Topper

This weekend we had such a fun baby shower for a sweet friend of ours. She is having a little boy in less than a month! I was asked to make a dessert and decided to make a cake. I thought it would be fun to make a little cake topper so it would be more special and festive.

First, I sketched out the design in Photoshop. After that I took the sketch into Illustrator and traced it.

After that, I printed and cut it out with scissors. This was just a practice version to make sure it looked how I wanted it to.

Once I knew this was how I wanted it to look, I created a thin gray stroke of the design in Illustrator. I did this since I wanted to cut the design out of white paper.

Once printed, I used spray adhesive to glue it onto two other pieces of card stock so it would be sturdier and stand upright. Once glued, I started cutting out the negative space with an Xacto knife.

Once it was all cut out, Daniel helped me hot -glue it onto two skewers. I think it turned out so cute!

We had such a great time at the shower and can't wait to meet sweet little baby Luke!

Digital Art: Cotton and Cream

Here's a little logo I sketched out on the computer when figuring out what to call my calligraphy site. It definitely has a different feel than the one I am currently using. I like the design. Who knows, it may be used for something in the future!

2 Peter 1:3a

I wrote this verse out the other night. I wanted to practice writing sentences centered on a page. Wouldn't it be pretty for wedding vows to be written out like this? So special

Brenda and Drew

I cannot tell you how fun it was working on these chalk signs. I mean look at that huge beautifully framed chalk board!

Here are a couple more pictures of the chalk boards at their reception:

Paper Wreath

One of my sweetest friends recently lost her father. Our home group surrounded her and her husband with love as best we could with hugs and prayers during this tragic time. We decided to leave her and her husband a surprise for when they came back home.

This is a sketch of the design I did on the computer. It was based on this Floral Wreath Guestbook by Oh Happy Day. I loved that it was something you could display in your home. We all signed a little leaf and I added a paper flower. The free tutorial for the paper flower is found on Lia Griffith's blog. I bought the shadow box and paper from Michael's.

I think it is a simple gift that shows someone how much you care for and are thinking of them.

Here's a picture of their dining room table I snapped before we left. They came home to a clean apartment filled with flowers, groceries, and gifts. We love them so much!
