New Company Logo

I thought it was time for a new and fresh logo!  I decided to change my company from "Sparrow Calligraphy" to "Sparrow Hand Lettering." When I first started, I thought I would just be addressing envelopes and other paper products. Over the past couple of years I've noticed I've completed more chalkboards and design projects than paper projects done with a calligraphy pen. I enjoy both, so this new name encompasses calligraphy and design.

Here's a screenshot of my old logo.

Here's my initial sketch. When designing a logo, I always start with sketching. The above sketch was my favorite out of about 10 variations. I don't worry about the sketch being perfect because I know I will have the ability to edit the design once I bring it into the computer. You'll notice my "L" in "lettering" hit the first "R" in "sparrow." I knew that was something I would want to revise in the computer.

Here is the final logo! I traced my design in Illustrator. If the process of designing a logo is something y'all are interested in, I could do a tutorial. It's not too hard, just takes some time! :)

I hope you all enjoy my new logo as much as I do!

James' One Year Old Chalkboard Design

This is a chalkboard I recently completed for a one year old birthday party. James' mom said his party was going to be Baylor football themed. So cute! She specifically requested some of the elements included in the design.

I loved how much special information was included, like his current favorite foods, his favorite song, things he liked to do. It will be so much fun looking back on how much he has changed by the time his second birthday rolls around.

I loved working on this project and hope that the family was pleased with the final result! :)

Mom's Birthday Gift

Here's another potholder I made for my mom's birthday! I wanted to it coordinate with the first one I made her. You can find more information on how I make these potholders on my quilting blog, here.

I love the personal touch the monogramming gives.

I hope she loves it and gets good use out of it. :) Love you mom!

Harris Place Cards

These are place card I completed a while back for a rehearsal dinner.

I just folded that very top one for the picture so you could see how they would sit. I figured they would be easier to transport unfolded!

The family wanted the name on the front and the table number on the back.

The pictures don't do justice to how beautiful the paper is. It is a star dream paper, so it has a metallic and shimmery look. So pretty!

I'm fairly certain that this was the color "Iris Blue" and were 2.5" x 3.5" when folded. Again, the pictures don't show the true color and sheen of this paper. I wish you could see them in person! You can purchase these place cards here. They come flat like this and you just fold them on a pre scored line. So easy!

I love the contrast of the white ink on the dark blue cards. So classy!

I hope they enjoyed these place cards and I hope everyone easily found their seats! :)
